Question of the Week: Fess Up!

So I had a different question in mind for this week (something along the lines of what you would do first if you inherited a large sum of money unexpectedly. No, sadly that does not arise from any personal experience! :) However, I was just filling out a survey to get a free sample of something or other online, and had to answer this soul-searching, light-shedding question:

*How many hours a day do you spend on the computer?

Oooo...that'll get ya.

There were several options (ie: less than 1, 1-2, 2-3) etc. I, of course, chose on the conservative I-am-remembering-to-do-laundry-and-get-out-of-these-pjs-and-feed-my-two-year-old kind of day.

But I must confess, some days my still, small, internal voice politely and sweetly screams:

STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER!

So, fess up! On average, how much time are you glued to the screen each day? Does it take up more of your time than you'd like? Do you feel "sucked in"? Some days I know I squander more time than I should away clicking and typing. But what a beautiful tool to communicate, learn, research, save money, spend money (little laugh here, ahem).

Guess I better sign off for tonight...there's a load in the wash that needs to make its way to the dryer!

Ok, does it count that I WORK at my computer? Because if you count that...oh, who am I kidding. I spend WAY too much time online! *sigh*

I tend to do better on vacations and times away though. I'm learning to manage my computer time rather than letting it manage me. How's that for progress?

Well...I work in front of the computer and internet all day long, so chalk up 8 there...I go home and do about an hour of homework a night...add 1...and then I peruse all my blog friends, Myspace, and Craigslist for another hour or so before I go to bed. My total answer would have to be 10+ hours each day.

However, other than checking my email in the mornings, I usually leave the computer be on the weekends and spend time with hubby and friends!

Certainly couldn't live without my laptop.

Some days way to much and others not at all. I find once I get on, I can get sucked in and a 2 hour nap time is gone in a moment, or I am up WAY to late and regretting it the next morning. I would have to say on average 1-2 hours a day...sometimes more, sometimes less. It is a great way to stay connected with family and friends (at least that is my excuse - when I am on way to long)

I've been trying to work on breaking away from the computer. I try to get on it before the boys wake up, during naptime, or after bedtime. Crazy as it sounds those guidelines are still hard for me to keep!
